when it rains, it pours!

hi guys!

wow! i can't believe its been over a month i posted anything. This time i can say it was not due to laziness or work but the fact that my life has been one merry go round. its been a jumble of the good, bad and ugly.

lets start with the ugly. i am just recovering from a nasty illness that really reeked havoc with my body and has left me feeling and looking less than myself. after countless injections and pills later, i can safely say am back on the road to recovery even though i feel still get weak for no reason and my sleep is erratic and my appetite is yet to return from its vacation. for one that has never been fleshy to be with it, i now look like an anorexic patient and  i feel less than desirable.

the bad is that shortly before my bout with illness, my heart (surprise surprise!) went through another whirl wind romance that lasted all of a month. to cut the long story short: boy meets girl, things didn't work out,boy gone with the wind.

finally the good! i passed my exams! the one that gave me sleepless nights in December that had the power to make my heart freeze with fear has been conquered, the beast has been slain. Am so ecstatic that i am not as dumb as this course made me out to be.

so all in all. the past one month has been interesting to say the least. For now  getting my looks back is numero uno on my list and its operation get me back to hotsville.

till next time folks!

the first date

hi guys!
its been a minute hasn't it? My life has been mad hectic with my boss assigning more responsibilities all in a bid  to develop me career wise. i am very grateful to him for this, because it shows he has more confidence in me than i have in myself. Anyway i welcome the challenge. Apart from work, school has resumed and that does not help matters but in the midst of this gloominess i found a reason to smile. I managed by Gods grace to ace my exams i wrote in December last year for my professional qualifications. I can safely say that career wise, i am moving along, not as fast as i would like, but moving at least.

Now to the more interesting aspect of every young woman, my love life. I managed to squeeze in time to go on a couple of dates. The latest one was quite nice actually. I got the usual butterflies and nervousness because it was a blind date. I did not know if the guy would turn out to be a flop like the other ones and frankly at the same time i was a bit excited. He had a very sexy voice on the phone and sounded posh. I was nervous that the posh voice might be emanating from a walking baboon. Anyway in the looks department, he wasn't bad. he was tall and seemed gentle manly and in my estimation he seemed nice. we had quite a bit of laughs and i had to restrain myself from launching into full scale interrogation mode. he dropped me of at home at a decent time with a hug, no going in for the kill from this one. then......it went down hill.

i know i may have some unrealistic expectations and believe me, am working on that. But i can say that his behavior from then to now, has been Luke warm at best. At first i was a bit worried, then angry, then indifferent. I think i was on my best behavior on the date and i do not know what else a girl is supposed to do. what was all the fuss about, thinking of what to wear and what to say and not to say. what are men looking for exactly? should i have been more coy and mysterious? more funny? flashed a bit more flesh?laughed less?

i think am off dating for a while......will keep you posted. till later folks.

when nothing goes right( by the way its Valentine)

hi guys!

Its me again and am here to go on and on about the life of a young lady in the cosmopolitan City of Las Gidi. in the past two weeks it seems that NOTHING is going right for me. I know that's a depressing thought and you are probably thinking that here she goes again but on a serious note am thinking ' when is a girl going to get a break. One thing i have noticed is as bad as it has gotten, i am yet to shed one single tear ( should i call it maturity or the fact that my tears have dried up).

its valentine around the corner and as i mentioned earlier i wish we could fast forward the event all together. i know its going to be one of those days. at least i know i will have fun at the office, am on the planning committee for the valentine groove and am bound to receive a card at least. Anyway for those looking forward to a wonderful valentine's day, more power to you. am hoping to hear about all the fantabulous gifts my girl friends are going to get and am looking  forward to feasting on free cake and chocolates. but a note of warning: please bear in mind that times are hard and there have been a lot of setbacks in this new year. do not expect heaven and earth, its better to expect less than let your expectations not be met and then you deny him sex or break up with him all together and if he is a toaster ' kick him to the curb' so fast, his head spins. please do not buy him boxers and wine and expect an IPAD or BlackBerry Phone, its not just fair! we scream for equality all the time. so happy valentine's day y'all and please practice safe sex!

till later.....

its your girl.

ITS BEEN A MINUTE

hi guys,

happy new month! the new year is moving along and i must say it has already been an eventful one at that. as usual my life is always anything but boring. in the space of one month to be precise not only have i met a guy but that same guy has cheerfully broken my heart ( what else is new). the work load has also been mad crazy, its like we are making up for the one week we were at home for that legendary strike. speaking of strikes, ASUU has finally called their's of, am so happy for all the students but at the same time i feel for the lecturers. they do so much for us and get rewarded so little.

anyway its February and we all know what February  is about ( rolling my eyes) its that month that guys start keeping their distance and girls start giving you the green light in the hopes of getting a valentine's gift. Maybe because i have been down and out when it comes to romance but i await Valentine's day with disdain.

Anyway lets see how it goes.

that back handed compliment

hi guys!

hope we all have been hanging in there. work has started in earnest and to be honest am not exactly thrilled. anyway my pet peeve today is the cattiness or bitchiness we women display to each other.
there is no women out there that cannot say that she has not been at the receiving end of another woman's annoying trade of trying to put each other down. its really funny that men think most of the time women dress up to impress them( yeah we like to look good so we can be admired by the opposite sex) but believe me its mostly to hear our fellow women say you look hot, its like a seal of approval from our sorority. I have had my share of the snide remarks thrown out especially by female colleagues and frenebits. it could be a back handed compliment like' i love your new shoes, you gave the other pair a vacation' or ' don't you think this outfit is to dressy for the office'. first, its better to be over dressed than other dressed and secondly since your one kobo has not been added to the purchase of this outfit, why don't you mind your business( i say all these in my mind) while pasting a smile on my face.

women are usually the nastiest to each other and  the standards we expect from each other are always too damn high. from how you carry yourself, to the way you speak and the length of your brazillian hair. its just plain ridiculous if you ask me.

till next time folks. be good.

xoxo

happy new year subsideens and subsidats!

hi guys! its the new year and am sure we all, are bursting with new year resolutions that wont last till February. anyway its been an interesting new year for me and Nigeria. this just goes to show that 2012 is bound to be a very 'interesting year' for us all.

where should i begin? is it the wonderful new year gift that our esteemed president bestowed on Nigerians aided by twiddle dee and twiddle dum or the fact that   Nigeria was on the verge of being another Egypt( a girl can hope, cant she)? or on a personal level the fact that i have never been this broke and once again the guys in my life made me realise that new year or no year, once a twat always a twat!

the only redeeming quality of this new year so far was the fact that i got the chance to sleep and wake up whenever i wanted for one week and that i also had the opportunity to feel like a freedom fighter by protesting, it was so much fun. i rubbed shoulders with area boys that would have sent me screaming in the opposite direction on another day. in this regard at ojota we were all united in one thing. the anger that we all felt towards our leaders.

anyway the momentum was cut shut by the government forcing N97  down our throats with the use of soldiers and the NLC suspending the strike. i was waiting with bated breath and hoping against hope that some miracle would happen and for once the Nigerian people would get their way (N65 or nothing).Anyway we all are in this boat together and there is an uneasy calm that permeates the land.

God bless Nigeria!

happy new year

Hi guys!
Am sure the holidays have been fantastic! Mine has been wonderful. I never knew that I could be
Such a party animal. I can confidently say that I had a great time over the xmas holidays with friends and family. I went to the beach
,Concerts and comedy shows.
However we live in a country where reality sets in pretty fast. We got a wonderful new year present from our utterly clueless president with
The removal of the fuel subsidy. Isn't that great? We get to purchase our natural resource at the reasonable price of N141.
I try to be as objective as possible in my arguments but experience has shown me that even though goverment promises to do something(they have promised to use funds to devlop the country)
I find it very hard to believe. They have NEVER kept their promises. As optimistic as I am for the new year
I am very afraid because I fear that two things may happen. Nigerians will bark and not bite as usual or bite the soul of this country clear of and plunge us into darkness.
I am afraid of what will happen if they bite and the hardship we are bound to face if they don't. Why is this country always
Regressing I wonder. I can only pray for God to help us but at the same time I think the fact that we are more religious than godly that has put us in this mess. I am sure many churches will key into this opportunity to organise church programs that will be themed 'fuel subsidy or not I will succeed. Muslim leaders will say its Gods will and say we should accept our fate and Gods will. I say enough is enough.
