TGIF Conversation ( Office Culture)

Hi Guys,

Its been a very busy week for me at work. Meeting upon meetings and a lot of correspondence via email. Its been challenging and i like challenging. How has YOUR week been? Like mine or more low key?
Anyway, today is the day the lord has made in his infinite mercy for all hard working people,Friday! I think the best part of the weekend is Friday because of the feeling of expectation, you have for the weekend. The fact that you have two working free days ahead( if you don't have to work Saturdays) to do absolutely anything you want to, bliss...

I want to talk about office culture today and even though i might be shooting myself in the foot, am still going to go for it. After all, that's what this blog is about, being able to express myself freely. Well....the place i currently work is quite different from where i used to work. Here, people are more reserved and keep to themselves most of the time and are very into the work. Not much chit chatting about or exchanging of pleasantries as much as my old place.

There are some exceptions though, like myself, who are a bit extroverted and i have bonded with them. However, the prevalent culture seems to be ' More work and Less play'. Well this could be both good and back. Good because the work gets done, bad because everyone is always strung out and this could lead to burn out.

I think that organisations need to find a fine balance, so that people can effectively work and have fun while doing it, so it does not feel like work. I love to have fun while working, it keeps my creative juices flowing. I love to listen music and jiggle my behind on my seat while pounding out documents. Some people like peace and quiet, so to maintain the peace, i use my head phones, everyone is happy.

I just hope i am able to make an impact in a positive way and inject some life into their lives. Life is too short men. Have a fantastic weekend ahead. In the spirit of fun and just plain vanity, here are some of my looks over the week, chained to my desk

Mondays Musings on the BBA Finale

The end! The Big Brother Africa  phenomenon which stirred a lot of controversy both online and offline has finally come to an end with Delicious Dillish Matthews, the Namibian Housemate taking home the whooping price of $300,000( what a lucky girl, beautiful and rich to boot).

I really tried  to follow the Big Brother show this year and i must say it was very interesting. I experienced varying emotions( from horror at the antics of Beverly, to amusement at the funny man's Sulu's undying love for Selly and pure feminine admiration for Hakim's body). The various love triangles and romances were also enough to get my attention, after all that was what the 'The Chase' was about and there was Drama Drama Drama!!! Who does not love Drama as long as you are not in the middle of it. It just makes you feel better about yourself, doesn't it?

I am happy that Dillish won, apart from the fact that she is a woman. I wasn't that enthused about the Nigerian housemates( call it unpatriotic and all, but it is what it is and i am entitled to an opinion). Apart from her obvious physical attributes( she is very pretty) she managed to keep her cool and stay faithful to her man while being on good terms with both the girls and guys in the house, at least she tried to be ( Hakim nominated her many times  because he considered her lazy, eat your heart out, Hakim). If i were her ' boo', I'd propose to her sharp sharp! Lock that girl down ASAP, if she comes to Nigeria, we will take her, a word is enough for the wise.

She triumphed, despite her many nominations and she was never ' Head of House'. She was underestimated by her housemates( they probably thought she was all beauty and no brains) especially in my opinion by Elikem the Ghanian Housemate who just rubbed me the wrong way from the get go( I cannot fault his focus though and his determination, he used the platform to advertise his craft and got a hot woman to boot, Pokello) but i just didn't want him to win, His cockiness would have been too much to take.

An acquaintance  of mine made this statement on his BB PM " The men were chasing the women and the women were chasing the money' Do you agree? For Example take Hakim and Cleo AKA The Ice queen. I think that Hakim was evicted because of Cleo. He lost focus in the game and was Cleo this and that and despite his ' Hunk Appeal' people were just over it. In my Opinion, Hakim was more into Cleo than she was in to him( just saying) and tried to minimize her ' Mushiness' which back fired on her according to my mum who watches Big Brother by the way. My mum's analysis of the finale is that the reason Cleo didn't win is because of her ' Aloofness'  because since its Guys that vote the most. They were probably put of by her character and voted more for Dillish who is warm and adorable and was Loyal to her man. African men love Loyalty.

Anyway, congrats to Dillish and i wish her and all the other housemates success in their future endevours...

Taking a walk in the shoes of 'Runz Girls' BTW its Friday!

Hi Guys!

How has the week been? Mine has been work filled and very eventful. Today is friday and frankly the weekend has never looked more inviting. I hope i do not have to come in during the weekend, because that would just be plain sad. I do not have any specific paroles or waka but i do intend on relaxing and generally just do nothing.

Anyway i want to talk about some hilarious video on youtube that was recommended to me by my elder sister ' Naijarish Baby' with different series on being a ' Runz Girl' in Nigeria which to me is just being an 'Ashawo' but for better money. Prostitution is the oldest profession in the world and in different cultures they are called different things. My personal favorite is ' Courtesan' it just makes the whole thing sound more posh and dignified and who doesn't like a fancy title even though your job is rubbish and yes prostitution is a job. Its quite demanding being required to spread your legs for multiple men that you have no feelings for AND pretend to enjoy the whole thing. Especially for some men who are clueless...... am sure you get my meaning.

A pictorial representation of a Courtesan.

Anyway i watched some of the videos and i quite enjoyed it because even though the babe was being satiric in a way and was making fun of Brazilian hair spotting, drag queen makeup wearing 'Runz girls',in some way i kind of saw things from the point of Runz girls. Am not advocating for doing it but seriously would you not rather be ' a gold digger' than ' dig for pangolo'( i got that classic quote from Lolita in the video). Being a regular good girl does not mean that you are guaranteed happily ever after, your heart still gets stumped on and it does not mean that you will not be required to fake enjoyment even if you are, not during sex. You are still taken for granted and yes, you might get cheated on. So why don't you get paid for the whole sad experience. I am sure some people and especially guys will raise eyebrows but i am taking a logical and dispassionate view about the whole thing. The funny thing is quite a number of this 'Runz Girls' get settled  in their husband's house before many so  good girls that are thronging churches and mosques in  to find a husband. Does this mean that 'Runz Girls' know what they are doing and we do not? Am not saying there are no husbandless 'Runz girls' but is it not better to cry in a Rolls-Royce or apartment in Lekki paid for by a ' Sponsor' than on an Okada, just saying.

Once again i am not advocating for immorality but then again it just makes you wonder......

Have a fabulous weekend lovelies.

An Accident waiting to Happen

Hi Peeps!

Am so happy right now! My blog has been totally revamped and yesterday ( Gasp!) i had over 60 visitors to my blog. Am sure you are rolling your eyes but to a lowly she she bere blogger like myself that's no small feat. I hope the numbers increase in leaps and bounds but i also know that it also depends on how regular i am with my updates. So Dear God help a sister out.

Enough about me . Its on to my topic of today. Hmm if you see what i saw today you will understand my caption: An Accident waiting to Happen. As i was power walking to the office today i saw something that elicited two reactions: Amusement and Pity. There was this young lady just like myself that was waiting for a bus ( God is still working on my Range Rover). Anyway what caught my interest was not her extremely tight pencil skirt( who am i to judge, i have worn my fair share) it was the high heeled shoes that madam was wearing. Wearing HEELS to hustle for a  Danfo in Lagos, Haba! I looked around me and there were other ladies obviously going to work as well and we were all in different types of flats; slippers, sandals and ballet shoes. Different scenarios of horrible accidents that could befall this young lady ran through my mind and none of them pleasant. We bus hoppers know that more than half of Lagos Bus drivers are clinically insane. They can just decide to move when you have one leg in the bus and if you are not agile enough, you might end up with a ripped shirt or worse a sprained ankle. So imagine trying to achieve this in a tight pencil skirt and heels.

Anyway i could not waste any more time observing the silly girl because a bus parked right in front of me,going my way. I chuckled about the whole thing till i got down from my bus. The things we women do in the name of looking hot sha! Thats that folks, have a wonderful day ahead my lovelies.

Wishing you love and Laughter.
