Laissez le bon temps rouler

Hi Guys!

Its been a minute and i have been so busy doing nothing really. My birthday came and went and it was an adventure i tell you. I have the best friends ever. Little did i know that my girlfriends Tola and Tracy had a huge surprise for me. My birthday was filled with emotions, i laughed and cried on that day and for a while i was actually quite down but i managed to snap out of it and have a good day. Looking back now, i wonder why i felt so down and i feel a bit ungrateful and silly because God has been good to me and blessed me in so many ways that i do not know. The huge surprise was a birthday party organized for me as a surprise on last week friday. My friends could be CIA Agents because i did not have a clue and nobody let the cat out of the bag including my younger brother. Apart from the party on friday,it was quite an eventful weekend for i and my girl pals. On saturday we had a boat cruise and on Sunday we volunteered our services at a charity concert to help ' Kelechi walk' and it was well worth it. I want to use this opportunity to thank everyone who made my day special, especially my friends, you guys rock and may God bless you abundantly. Here are the pictures of my fun and eventful weekend...

The pictures above are from my birthday spent at the office. Fun times with my office dolls( Dumz,Phoomz,Debz,Riri and Mrs J)
Looking like a doll on friday night.Fabulous makeup done for me at Tola's Office. AM SO CLUELESS! I still didn't suspect anything, i was just excited to get my makeup done for a fun night out.

I am blessed to have these women in my life. This was after the big reveal.....

I and bobo lulu. He was in on the whole surprise and did a good job of keeping it from me.
I  and my Girl sistas feeling hot. I did not take too many pictures because i was sooo happy and touched. After the extremely ' Fun Night' with quite a bit of other events that i am too shy to reveal here( what happens in T••s••`•, stays there, still blushing). After friday, the fun continued..
We needed to hide our tired eyes because we still hadn't recovered from the night before. When we party,we party hard! I always have the best times with my partners in crime.
These T-shirts was sooo cute and and i need to get the contact info of the guy who hooked us up. It was all for charity...

Good times...

Monday Musings

Hi Guys!

Its good to be back. Have you missed me?  There is no doubt that i missed doing this. There are a lot of things that give me joy and writing is one of them.

Another great love of mine is music. I love music, i love to listen to music and i love to sing as well. When it comes to the singing part , i am not that talented but i dappled in it a bit. I was part of the school choir for years ( secondary school) and i had the privilege of singing a couple of leads then. My voice was much better in the past, but after secondary school and my stint with a drama group when awaiting admission into the university, i lost the thirst to see myself singing on stage because....well... i knew there were millions out there better than me. I do not believe in mediocrity and anything worth doing is worth doing well. If i wanted to pursue singing, i would want to be AMAZING and i know that i am not , so i moved on....

I still love music. I love listening to the lyrics of well written songs and i can sit down just listening to the beats and sounds of different musical instruments blending together. Good music gives me goose bumps and sometimes i get teary eyed listening to music, i am that emotional. I love Alternative Rock( not the ear blistering hard metal type) and i have so many groups i love. Linkin Park, Nickelback, Maroon 5, Daughtry,Aerosmith.....etc...The list goes on. If its good i listen to it, no matter what genre it falls into. Classical and Celtic music are not left out.  If am feeling out of sorts, music is a sure way of getting me into a better mood especially on Monday and Classic FM, never lets me down with their ' Rock Monday' line up. I love singing along to the all the time classics they belt out and to hell with the fact that am in the office.

While i was catching up on what i might have missed over the past week. I decided to read up on a blog that i follow www.thirdworldprofashional.com/( you should visit her site, she is a fashion blogger and i love the way she writes) and her latest post was about a Capella singing group called ' Pentatonix'. Pentatonix is  a cappella group of five vocalists, Scott Hoying, Kirstie Maldonado, Mitch Grassi, Avi Kaplan and Kevin Olusola, originating from Arlington, Texas.  She was raving about them and went on and on about the group, so i decided to go to YouTube to check them out and see what the fuss was about. I fell in love. They are sooo talented and i could see why she went loco over them. I listened to their rendition of ' Somebody that i used to know'( Gotye Cover) and i was blown away. There is no doubt with God's mercy, they will succeed. Nothing beats raw talent and creativity.

Which brings me to the Nigerian Music industry. We have some amazing talented vocalists here but there is still room for improvement. The female artists like Tiwa Savage,Waje and Omawunmi are wonderful vocalists and i think 'Banky W' is also very good but we need to take it to the next level. I want to be a blown away and get goose pimples listening to a Nigerian artist. Am done with the club jams( i understand  the commercial implications and they need to make money)but i know we can do sooooo much better. I love Nigerian music.

That being said, that's all for today and my ' Monday Musings'. Have a fab week guys...

Sugar and Spice and all things nice for the weekend

Hi Dolls and Gentlemen,

How was the week? It was a bit of a short one with the Wednesday break to celebrate Worker's Day. God bless whoever came up with the idea to give a ' non-working' day as a celebration for workers. Totally inspired!

My life is just going at a steady boring no surprises pace.I have a one week leave coming up from next week and i would have really loved spending it outside Nigeria but no cheddah. So am going to turn my house into a ' resort' by stocking the house with food and snacks, fuel for the generator and just generally chill. Ill see if i can squeeze in some partying and visits if i can.

In the romance department, everything is soooooo dry....

No toasters, propositioners or faworaja's ( as my friend Dumz calls them) to keep a girl busy or drive me totally crazy with their stupidity and lame lines.... but i digress. Its better this way believe me.

Its also my birthday month( Happy birthday to me) and i AM DETERMINED( in Kanu's Voice) to make it worth my while and have the best time ever. Money or no Money and Man or no Man. Mi ole wa ku men. Hopefully something good will happen to make me totally euphoric and happy.

As per my blogging i intend to step it up a notch and change some things about it. I also do not mind suggestions. It breaks my heart that i might not be able to update next week but ill see what i can do using my BB. I really need an Iphone or an IPAD( hint! hint! or wink to any good Samaritan that will love to sow into my life or Corporate entity) am an unabashed ole! A girl can hope for a birthday gift na...

Have a blessed weekend lovers. Hugs and kisses.
